The Barrie Royals is not-for-profit organization affiliated with Ontario Basketball (OBA), governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. The club is proud to have a highly skilled group of over 3 dozen NCCP certified coaches that are dedicated to the development of young athletes. The Barrie Royals Basketball Club was established in 1985 by a dedicated group of teachers, high school coaches and basketball enthusiasts.

The club has grown from one Midget Boys competitive team to eighteen Boys and Girls competitive teams from U10 Novice to U19 Junior age categories in the 2011-12 season. The competitive Rep teams' season commences with tryouts in September each year and concludes with participation in the OBA Provincial Championships at which many teams have been successful, winning over 75 Gold, Silver and Bronze medals over the past twenty six years.

To celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the club two "Hall of Fame" display cases were installed at the East Bayfield Community Centre to honour past accomplishments with a display of many awards and photos. Also on display is the history of the "Kort Award" in recognition of valued volunteers who have commmitted time and energy to the development of our sport in the Barrie area. A complete listing of those recipients is in the attachment below.

The Barrie Royals are also proud of many young basketball players that have excelled on Ontario Basketball Regional and Provincial Teams as well as at the University and College level. Our players, coaches and volunteers are participating in the fastest growing team sport in Canada and living in one of the best communities in Ontario and the Barrie Royals provide an opportunity to develop skills and experience. We welcome basketball enthusiasts to join us.
