Mission & Goals

The Barrie Royals is not-for-profit organization affiliated with Ontario Basketball (OBA), governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. The club is proud to have a highly skilled group of over 3 dozen NCCP certified coaches that are dedicated to the development of young athletes. The Barrie Royals Basketball Club was established in 1985 by a dedicated group of teachers, high school coaches and basketball enthusiasts.

The club has grown from one Midget Boys competitive team to eighteen Boys and Girls competitive teams from U10 Novice to U19 Junior age categories. The competitive Rep teams' season commences with tryouts in September each year and concludes with participation in the OBA Provincial Championships at which many teams have been successful, winning over 80 Gold, Silver and Bronze medals over the years.

The Barrie Royals are proud of many young basketball players that have excelled on Ontario Basketball Regional and Provincial Teams as well as at the University and College level. Our players, coaches and volunteers are participating in the fastest growing team sport in Canada and living in one of the best communities in Ontario and the Barrie Royals provide an opportunity to develop skills and experience. We welcome basketball enthusiasts to join us.

In June 2017 a newly elected Board of Directors re-established the clubs Mission and Vision statements.

The Barrie Royals Basketball Club mission is to facilitate basketball discovery, development, competition and elite opportunities for community youth.

The Barrie Royals Basketball Club will be the premier basketball club in Central Ontario, through the facilitation of recreational and competitive programs focused on both skill and personal development for youth of all ages.
