House League Programs

The Barrie Royals Basketball Club has been providing basketball opportunities to athletes in the City of Barrie and Simcoe County since 1985.

The Barrie Royals House League program offers a powerful opportunity for players to access coaching, skill development, and game play at the community level.

  • Royals House League programs are open to a variety of age groups, depending on time of year and gym availability.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Junior Royals House League Program:

Can anyone play?
The House League program holds a series of skills evaluation sessions in the pre-season for anyone who wishes to participate in the House League program. House
League players do not need experience playing basketball, just a desire to learn, participate and have fun. Evaluation Weekends for House League players occur at the
end of September or beginning of October. Players MUST attend 2 out of the 3 sessions for evaluation: Evaluation Day; Development Clinic #1; and/or, Development Clinic #2. Dates and times will be posted on the website.

When are the practices and games?
Practices
The specific practice day/time/gym cannot be confirmed until AFTER the player evaluations are held. Players will be assigned to their individual teams at that time.
Practice days and times remain the same for the duration of the season.
Games
House League games take place on Saturdays.
NOTE: There are times when the practice/game time requires rescheduling due to school board cancellations or accommodations for tournament requirements. Every
effort will be made to have the re-scheduled practice on the same day and time but at a different location.

What happens if my child cannot practice on a certain day?
During the registration process you can, and are encouraged to note any day(s) your child cannot practice. Great care is taken to avoid conflicts when teams are being
rostered. We cannot, however, guarantee requests for specific practice nights.

How are special requests handled?
During the evaluations, every attempt is made to accommodate requests made at the time of registration (with unavailable practice nights taking priority). Please note that additional requests for car pooling and friend requests are not priority when assigning teams. After initial assignment to a team, all requests to move players are denied for the initial two weeks while team balancing issues are assessed. It will be at this time that we will address any further move requests. Coaches are asked to document and keep these requests handy.

Is there a guarantee of playing time in House League?
YES! All House League players are guaranteed equal playing time during games.
