Programs

The Barrie Royals Basketball Club has been providing basketball opportunities to athletes in the City of Barrie and Simcoe County since 1985. We have different program options for youth of all ages, skills and abilities.

Barrie Royals Rep Teams

What to Expect

After a successful try-out and invitation to join one of the teams, players and families can expect:

  • A fair and fun experience where players will develop on and off the court
  • Annual Registration fees of approximately $1300 (this fee is subject to change). The registration fee includes fees for gyms, sanctioned games, referees, OBA fees, OBA Championships, insurance and equipment
  • Uniform Fees; approximately $250. Uniform includes 2 jerseys, 2 shorts and a warm-up shirt
  • Teams are made of up 10-12 players dedicated to the practice and tournament schedule
  • Practices starting late September through to the conclusion of the season in the spring
  • The teams play approximately 20-30 games against teams from around the Province throughout the season
  • Most teams will participate in at least 3-5 weekend tournaments some of which will require travel. Hotel arrangements are made by the coach or team manager; however, families will be responsible for hotel and meal costs
  • High school aged players have their tryouts in September but do not typically practice during their high school basketball season
  • A year-end club celebration in the form of an awards banquet
  • We strongly encourage parents to volunteer their time in some way throughout the season
  • Tryouts will take place in late August and early September

Simcoe United Juel and Juel Prep Teams

What to Expect

After a successful try-out and invitation to join one of the teams, players and families can expect:

  • JUEL is an independent provincial League, providing opportunities for female players throughout the province of Ontario through a team franchised system so that players can still live at home, but gain advanced basketball training
  • The Barrie Royals offers the Juel experience under the name Simcoe United Juel to female players who are looking for elite opportunities and may have their sights set on joining a college/university team or desire a career in basketball
  • There are three Juel programs offered:
    • Juel Academy - females grades 7 and 8
    • Juel Prep- females grade 9 and 10 
    • Juel - females grade 11 and 12
    • All three programs are being offered for the 25.26 season
  • Registration Fees for the Juel programs are set each season but are typically around $2500 per player. Actual cost is TBD
