The Barrie Royals Basketball Club has been providing basketball opportunities to athletes in the City of Barrie and Simcoe County since 1985. We have different program options for youth of all ages, skills and abilities.

REP/Travel Teams

What to Expect After a successful try out and invitation to join
one of the teams, players and families can expect:
  • A fair and fun experience where players will develop on and off the court
  • Annual Registration fees of approximately $600. The registration fee includes fees for gyms, sanctioned games, referees, OBA fees, OBA Championships, insurance and equipment.
  • Uniform Fees; approximately $230 for new players. Uniform includes 2 jerseys, 2 shorts and a warm-up shirt. Returning players can purchase individual uniform items as needed.
  • Teams are made of up 10-12 players dedicated to the practice and tournament schedule
  • Twice weekly practices starting late September through to the conclusion of the season in the spring
  • The teams play approximately 20-30 games against teams from around the Province throughout the season
  • Most teams will participate in at least 3-5 weekend tournaments some of which will require travel. Hotel arrangements are made by the coach or team manager; however, families will be responsible for hotel and meal costs.
  • High school aged players have their tryouts in September but do not typically practice during their high school basketball season
  • A year-end club celebration in the form of an awards banquet
  • We strongly encourage parents to volunteer their time in some way throughout the season

Juel Teams

What to Expect After a successful try out and invitation to join
one of the teams, players and families can expect:
  • JUEL is an independent provincial League, providing opportunities for female players throughout the province of Ontario through a team franchised system so that players can still live at home but gain advanced basketball training
  • The Barrie Royals offers the Juel experience under the name ‘Simcoe Muskoka Royals’ to female players who are looking for elite opportunities and may have their sights set on joining a college/university team or desire a career in basketball
  • There are two Juel programs offered: Juel Prep- females grade 9 and 10 Juel - females grade 11 and 12
  • Registration Fees are set by Juel and are typically between $800-1000 per season. Uniform Fees are $230.

Simcoe County United - Elite Boys

What to Expect After a successful tryout and invitation to join the team,
players and families can expect:
  • The “Simcoe United” U17 & U19 teams are designed to provide the top male players in Simcoe County a team schedule, training environment, & exposure needed to pursue their basketball goals without having to leave the area. The program is intended to be inclusive to players in Simcoe County. We want the best!
  • There are two teams being offered this Fall: U17 (Grade 11) & U19 (Grade 12/12+)
  • Cost: Registration fees range between $800 - 1000 per season. Uniform Fees are approx. $230 (home/away uniform/shooting shirt/practice jersey)
  • Transportation/Food/Lodging costs will be the responsibility of the families. However, we will look at ways to carpool and share rooms to cut these costs as much as possible.
  • Each team will be made up of approx. 10 players dedicated to the practice & game schedule
  • Practices will be 2 - 3 times per week in the Spring after the high school season & possibly 1 - 2 times per week in the Fall
  • Teams will play approx. 25 - 30 games. The teams will participate in the CYBL (www.cybl.ca) and various AAU tournaments in Ontario & U.S.
  • Krossover Game Film: We will have access to game film breakdowns of each of our games for use to improve and also to make videos to help in the recruitment process.
  • A year end club celebration in the form of an awards banquet

Girls House League Program

What to Expect
  • Divisions for girls in Grades 2/3 (birth year 2011/2012), Grades 4/5/6 (birth year 2009/2008/2007) & Grades 7/8 (birth year 2006/2005).
  • Skills clinic for each division through our partner Drive North.
  • Games hosted by the Royals at City of Barrie Gyms with referees.
  • A fun and fair basketball experience where players will develop on and off the court
  • Teams are limited to 7 players to ensure playing time.
  • 8 weeks of games starting Saturday October 20th.
  • The registration fee of $265 includes a jersey and ball for each player.
  • Year-end awards banquet.
  • We encourage parent volunteers to participate and join the Royals family.
